Have you ever felt like you arrived in a city that suddenly allowed you to be yourself? A place where you could step into the version of you that you’ve always dreamed of becoming?
Maybe it’s Paris, maybe Oslo, maybe Prague… But somehow, the moment you arrived, you gave yourself permission to be fully you. No one knows you there, the city has the right vibe, and your true self finally becomes visible.
Why does this happen? And why does it happen there — but not in the city where you live?
Maybe certain parts of who we are can only fully unfold and express themselves in different corners of the world. Maybe we don’t need to live there forever — just travel, wander, discover, and briefly experience what it feels like to be the ideal version of ourselves. Maybe every city we’ve ever lived in changes us a little. We take something from each place, and that’s how we become a new person.
Think about the friends you met during Erasmus in Prague — the ones who brought a kind of joy that stayed with you for life ❤️ (best times, thank you guys). Or the freedom of Berlin — a city that gathers everyone because of its layered history, openness, and wild creativity. Or Rome, dolce far niente, where you fell in love with the sweetness of doing nothing, the warmth, the slow living, and the sunlight. Or Paris — where you learned elegance, cultural pride, and the beauty of feeling like the world is bigger than you imagined.
All these pieces of cities stay within us and change us. Isn’t it beautiful? With every trip, holiday, weekend escape, we become richer, softer, deeper versions of ourselves.
